#181: Mario Looks Wonder-ful!

Drew and John open with their usual easy back-and-forth. They settle into the familiar Monday-night rhythm of the show. The conversation moves into new Switch news. The story quests are shorter and less deep than he wanted. Familiar characters like the professor and Bonnie still show up. The game keeps the same voice actors, which helps the world feel intact. Even so, he says he did not enjoy Undead Nightmare all that much. A late-game explosive zombie turns into a stubborn obstacle. He has to hogtie it quickly, but the timing keeps blowing up in his face. He gets frustrated enough that quitting starts to sound tempting. He eventually gets past the roadblock and finishes the game. The whole thing leaves him feeling the story is stupid and the game is not very deep. At the same time, it makes him want to boot up Red Dead Redemption 2 again. The episode then shifts to Sea of Stars. John gives a spoiler-light update on where he is in that game. The show closes with the same loose, familiar after-hours cadence it started with.
