2026 Update: Tony

March 12, 2026·43 min·2 clips
A nine-year-old tells his divorced godfather 'it's over for you, old sausage' after asking why he can't just get back with Natalie.
The return starts in the studio, where Kalila Holt and the host get stuck on the problem of sounding excited without sounding sarcastic. That fits Heavyweight pretty well. Former guests are back because their stories kept going after the episode ended, though the host still manages to drag mortality into the setup. Tony comes in through an errand. He is picking Zoe up after finals, and she warns him not to drive in grandma style. She is 18, wearing a yin and yang choker and a pink scrunchie, almost done with high school in that small, ordinary way that suddenly feels huge. They head to Brown's Inlet. Tony offers candy as emotional support, which only makes the quiet in the car more noticeable. Then he breaks it in the worst possible direction: a story about a friend collecting vomit for 20 years in a metal drum. Zoe reacts exactly how that deserves. The host does not try to make it adorable. At the park, Zoe remembers going there with a guy from school, sitting on the swings, and slowly realizing it was a date. Maybe her first. The scene turns softer after that, with finals, awkwardness, and family feeling all sitting at the same picnic table. Nothing resolves neatly. The update works because Heavyweight lets the interruptions stay in: the studio banter, the drive, the candy, the awful story, even the ads. Life keeps going after the tidy ending, sometimes sweetly, sometimes with a disgusting anecdote no one needed.

As heard by us

Tony and Zoe at a park picnic table -- a Heavyweight revisit that earns its unresolved ending.

Tony returns in this Heavyweight revisit, though the episode finds him in borrowed-uncle territory -- picking Zoe up from her high school finals and driving her to Brown's Inlet park.
