Lost Hyperspace opens with Matthew Manchester welcoming back TJ Hamada and Milana Linsky. The episode settles quickly into a Star Wars fan conversation rather than a formal review. TJ starts by circling back to The Bad Batch. He says season 3 is a clear step up from season 2. Season 2, to him, mostly went nowhere. A lot of those episodes felt pointless. Season 3 has more fun in it. He calls the Tantus material especially strong. Hemlock, though, still does not land for him as a very interesting villain. The group then drifts into Tales of the Empire. They start trying to line up Barris, Morgan, Ahsoka, and Dooku as parallels. They admit, more or less, that they are making that comparison up as they go. The Inquisitor side of the story gets a decent reception. The bigger complaint is that Morgan Elsbeth may not have needed to be the center of it. Some of the conversation turns into a wish list of other Star Wars figures the show could have focused on. Vader comes up as one of the missed opportunities. Tarkin and Krennic come up too. The episode also keeps coming back to the idea that the show wanted to stay away from Skywalker-heavy storytelling. Even so, someone pushes back with the plain view that a storyteller can just tell the story they want. The result is a loose, repetitive, very fandom-aware conversation that keeps sorting out what Star Wars should spend its time on.
