Run Your Story Podcast · Allison Gaillard

Stacy Ring - "Strength and Resilience"

·55 min·3 clips
Ulcerative colitis, prednisone, and running changed when Stacy says movement finally eased her joint pain.
Allison Gillyard opens the show with her Run Your Story family greeting and a strong shout-out to Women's Resource Center. Their This Is Life 5K is helping fuel Stacey Ring's Run Story this month, and Allison makes clear how much she values partnering with a nonprofit that serves the local community in practical ways. She says they go into schools to talk with children about healthy relationships and boundaries, and to encourage kids to dream big and think big. She also mentions parenting classes and support for moms in crisis pregnancy situations or in situations where they cannot get the support they need. In her telling, Women's Resource Center gathers resources so they can be the hands and feet of helping neighbors, and that gratitude runs through everything she says. The show then moves into race life and the expo atmosphere. Allison says she loves meeting people from all over at the expo, and she notes that last year the event broke its registration record. She hopes that happens again because the race is such a great cause for students and the community. One of her favorite memories is meeting a runner who had completed all 50 states and kept a room dedicated to his medals. She loved hearing that he was doing the 50 states again, and that kind of story is exactly why she enjoys hearing everyone's run stories. She also turns the spotlight on Nebraska, joking that some people think of it as only cornfields and a long drive, before pointing to western Nebraska as a beautiful hidden treasure. She names the Wildcat Hills and Scotts Bluff as part of that landscape, and by the end the show is doing what it always does: tying running to service, belonging, and community. The closing thanks go to Patreon supporters and swag buyers, with an invitation to visit runnersstory.com and keep sharing the stories.
