Different is the whole play here. Jim frames Joker: One Operation Joker as part of DC's translated manga batch, and the app release makes it feel oddly close at hand. Luke is with him right away. They keep bouncing between curiosity and alarm, because a Joker manga sounds silly until the chapter starts to move. Deadpool manga becomes the comparison point. After that, they treat the first chapter like a strange little pitch trying to win them over. The chemical plant scene gives them plenty to chew on. Joker tries to turn Batman's no-kill rule into a trap, begging for the vat while turning justice into another punchline. Batman does not bite, which brings the hosts back to the old Batman-and-Joker loop: end the problem, and Batman breaks his own deal. Then Joker gets too committed to the performance and backs himself into the fall he was pretending to want. The cave taunt feels very Joker. Jim reads it as a wink at Batman's darkness, maybe the kind of hint Joker drops when he knows too much. Luke keeps deflating the drama. The riffing keeps it loose, especially once the Batman-baby weirdness takes over. By the end, they like it more than they expected, land near an eight, and even leave the door open for the Superman manga.
