Yankees Finally Show Warts as Hot Start Continues vs. Marlins

April 7, 2026·1 hr 2 min·4 clips
Why is a Yankees podcast struggling to celebrate a series win where the bullpen walked 30 batters?
The Yankees won, and somehow that is the complaint. Adam treats the Marlins series like a weekend that should have been easy to file away: a loud home opener, a strange Saturday game, and too many warts to ignore. He does not sound calmed by any of it. The bullpen gets the first long look, mostly because the early-season confidence around its construction already feels a little thin after yesterday's mess. Then the show turns to urgency. A grounder to start the ninth on Saturday is not tossed off as trivia. It becomes the point, because the Yankees nearly wasted a three-run rally after the second baseman treated a routine out too casually. The apology does not fix much. Adam says the moment is over, then keeps circling the lack of edge anyway. Jazz Chisholm gets it worse. The issue is not talent. It is that an All-Star talking huge goals cannot keep giving away at-bats in big spots. Ryan McMahon gets more room because Adam says he knows what McMahon is. Chisholm's ceiling makes the empty swings harder to stomach. Boone's side of it gets a hearing, barely. Managing for the full 162, protecting players early, and avoiding another call after a previous talking-to all make sense on paper. The game still needed a sharper move. Once Stanton hit the wall with a double and the mound matchup looked wrong, Ahmed Rosario seemed like the obvious button. Boone never pushed it. The mood at the end is not panic. It is tired annoyance. Adam wants fewer bullpen choices that make the game feel warped, fewer casual defensive moments, and a cleaner series against the A's. Losing big might have been simpler. Winning like this left too much to pick at.

A Yankees win that still leaves the bullpen question open.

A Yankees weekend against the Marlins is not just a tidy win; it keeps the bullpen, the late-game urgency, and the uneasy feeling of leaving with questions still hanging in the air.
