About JOSPT Insights

JOSPT Insights is a rehabilitation podcast for clinicians who want research to change what happens in the clinic. The tone is professional and practical. Episodes usually begin with a defined clinical problem, then move into evidence, reasoning, and patient-facing choices. Recent topics show a clear editorial pattern: less certainty for its own sake, more attention to the person in front of the clinician. In tendinopathy, the show looks beyond tissue loading to fear, beliefs, worries, and the hard questions that can shape recovery. In precision physical therapy, clinical phenotyping becomes a way to recognize patterns while still respecting individual variation. In cognitive functional therapy, movement experiments are used to reveal beliefs, habits, protective strategies, and confidence. The show is especially interested in how clinicians explain pain without making patients feel broken. Its shoulder pain discussion questions diagnostic labels that sound exact but may not help care. Its manual therapy episode places hands-on techniques inside assessment, reassessment, and patient-centered rehabilitation. The sports injury conversations are equally concrete. Meniscus injury, patellofemoral pain, and calf strain episodes all return to graded exposure, education, symptom irritability, strength, mechanisms of injury, and return-to-sport demands. Guest expertise is treated as a way to sharpen practice rather than sell a single method. The pacing is compact. The vocabulary assumes comfort with clinical language, research papers, and musculoskeletal assessment. Still, the best moments are often simple: ask better questions, avoid over-pathologizing, test assumptions, and build treatment around the patient’s story. JOSPT Insights works well for physical therapists, sports physical therapists, rehabilitation clinicians, educators, and researchers who want evidence with a clear clinical destination. It is less about quick wellness advice and more about disciplined rehabilitation thinking. The result is a show that makes journal evidence feel usable without sanding away its complexity.

Made for: JOSPT Insights is for physical therapists, sports physical therapists, rehabilitation clinicians, educators, and researchers who already speak the language of musculoskeletal care. It especially suits listeners who want research tied to assessment, communication, exercise, manual therapy, and return-to-sport decisions.

What sets it apart: The show stands out by keeping evidence close to the treatment room. Instead of presenting research as abstract findings, it asks how terminology, screening, education, exposure, and patient beliefs change clinical decisions.

In their own words
