About Queer I Am, The Podcast.
Queer I Am, The Podcast. works best as a trusted room. Its centre is the interview: one person asking open, emotionally careful questions, and another person being given time to answer properly. Recent episodes move across two connected strands. One follows Flewey’s Queer Book Club, with conversations around queer books such as Human, Animal and Murder in the Dressing Room. The other gathers voices connected to Do You Believe in Life After Loss? Queer Stories of Loss, Hope and Resilience. The subjects are not light, but the handling is gentle. Loss, lost opportunity, family pain, creative recovery, and queer survival are allowed to sit alongside humour, craft, and affection. The show is especially attentive to what happens after the headline emotion. A guest may begin with a novel, a venue, a parent, or a sense of having lost a previous life, and the conversation slowly opens toward identity, memory, and what it takes to live with the aftermath. The literary episodes are not sealed off from that emotional world. Seth Insua’s conversation touches on research, farming, writing discipline, and queerness in character. Holly Stars brings in murder mystery, drag performers, and the wish to show queer relationships without making identity itself the wound. Silva Neves adds a more reflective frame around resilience, survival, burnout, age, and queer history. Luciana Cousin’s episode brings community, venue life, exclusion, and disappointment into sharper focus. Ewan’s episode connects art, memory, and the loss of a parent. Juno Roche’s conversation lingers on change, home, and the feeling of having made it somewhere livable. Across the run, the show does not flatten pain into uplift. It keeps returning to the messier truth that queer resilience can be real, tiring, hard-won, and still full of beauty.
Made for: Suits a listener who wants queer interviews with emotional patience, literary curiosity, and space for loss, creativity, and community to sit together. It is a strong fit for someone drawn to reflective conversation rather than brisk commentary.
What sets it apart: The show links queer books, personal loss, and community life without separating culture from lived experience. Its interviews feel less like promotion and more like careful conversations about what people carry, make, survive, and choose next.
